At Greenfield Veterinary Clinic, we offer a variety of important diagnostic procedures for your pet. Sometimes, your pet needs a more intensive examination at the vet clinic to determine their health and the nature of any issues that may be discovered. Our animal hospital can use these procedures to make a better diagnosis, and give your pet the correct treatment they need to get better.

Our following Diagnostic Services

Digital Radiography – This can give us a better picture of what is going on inside your pet.

Ultrasound – If we suspect something is in your pet that shouldn’t be, such as a tumor, cyst, soft tissue injury, or even a swallowed object, the ultrasound will let us see it in three dimensions. This allows for better diagnosis of the nature of the problem, and shows us the best way to treat it.

X-Ray – If your pet seems to be in pain, an x-ray can show the cause. Broken bones, arthritis, and other issues that don’t require a three dimensional view can show up on an x-ray. If a better view of the problem is needed, an ultrasound can be ordered after the initial issue is seen on the x-ray.

Endoscopy – Just like people sometimes need upper and lower endoscopies to do wellness checks or investigate any unusual symptoms in these areas, pets need this service for the same reasons. Using mild anesthesia to keep your pet relaxed, a small tube with a camera at the end will be guided down the throat or through the intestines to get a first-hand, real-time picture of anything that may be going on there.

Physical Inspection – Our veterinarians and veterinary technicians use a traditional physical inspection as the first means of examining your pet. Feeling your pet all over for signs of external and even internal issues lets us know what further diagnostic services, if any, your pet requires.

We also offer in-house laboratory testing, including:

• Blood Chemistry
• Complete Blood Count (CBC)
• Electrolytes
• Urinalysis
• Fecal Examination
• Hormone Levels
• Glucose

All of these tests can be done right here at the clinic, and will give us a clearer picture of what is going on with your pet. As an example, high glucose levels can indicate diabetes, just as it can in humans. A test of hormone levels shows if your pet’s behavior or other symptoms are caused by an imbalance of them. Fecal examination will show if your pet has parasites, particularly heart worms, round worms, and tape worms. Other lab tests we do show the presence of infections, how well your pet’s organs are performing, whether they are dehydrated, and their general level of health.
